Leeward Rail and The Freedom Plant

Img_1941_copy_2

This handsome guy is Kevin McCormick, author of “The Freedom Plant“, and leader of the nautical folk band “Leeward Rail”. He also happens to be my father, and I had the honor of photographing his combined coffeehouse and booksigning this past Saturday night.

The Freedom Plant, though of arboreal name, is a novel about fishermen and the ocean life- a mystery that takes place in modern times and the Cold War off the coast of New England. Kevin’s novel also features music by the late Stan Rogers, a very well-versed and talented nautical songwriter, and Leeward Rail performed the music from the book while reading excerpts- to a packed house!

Before I show more images, you should check out his website here:

…and buy the book! Speaking from an avid bookreader, this thing is GOOD. You can also find it on Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com.

Check out the website, and give Kevin a hello from his contact page! Ask him about Leeward Rail and their next performance, and how you can get a signed copy of his book.

  1. Kim L. wrote: WOW! What a fabulous concept... to combine music and writing together into a novel, and then bringing them together at a booksigning for a night of music! My husband is a writer and a musician, I should get him onto that website. Beautiful photos by the way. Your father must be very happy to have them of the event. Wish I could have experienced it, it sounds really unique. :) (03/11/08, 11:50 am)
